Joined by very special guest Briston Maroney (US)
Beloved UK band The Kooks are returning to Australia for a huge tour in 2025. Promising to be a stellar run of shows, The Kooks are taking over some of the country’s finest venues with a very special guest from the US, singer-songwriter Briston Maroney.
Bringing their extensive catalogue of cherished singalongs to Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth, the Brighton band are also playing epic festival sets at Tasmania’s Party In The Paddock and Yours and Owls in Wollongong.
Presented by XIII touring and Untitled, these upcoming shows mark The Kooks’ biggest Australian tour to date since their return to our shores after a sold-out run in 2022 celebrating the 15th anniversary of their debut album Inside In/Inside Out.
World-renowned for their distinct brand of indie rock, The Kooks are one of the few mid-noughties indie bands not only still standing, but still experiencing career highs. Breaking through with adored hits from their debut album like “Naive”, “Seaside” and “She Moves in Her Own Way” and hitting the jackpot again with tracks “Bad Habit” and “Sweet Emotion” from 2014’s Listen, The Kooks have continued to release critically acclaimed albums whilst keeping up with a restless tour schedule.
With an impressive catalogue of six studio albums, The Kooks have explored a multitude of genres since their debut in 2005, from futuristic synth-pop to stripped back prog rock and solidified their status as indie royalty with 2022’s 10 Tracks to Echo in the Dark. Open about their struggles with adjusting to superstardom, the optimistic album marked a new-found peace, confidence and stillness amongst the band. Amassing 7.7 million monthly Spotify listeners, The Kooks continue to build a fanbase that sprawls far and wide with their trademark sound.
A festival legacy like not other, The Kooks have played Coachella, Sziget, Summerfest, Lollapalooza and many more, amongst their busy history of their own headline tours across the globe.
One of the main characters of modern indie Briston Maroney will be heading down under as support. Hailing from Knoxville, Tennessee, this will be his first time playing to Australian fans, ready to belt out raw gems like “Small Talk”, “Freaking Out On The Interstate”, “Caroline” and latest single “Monday”.
Since breaking through in 2017 with his debut EP Big Shot, Maroney continues to garner love from all corners of the industry. He’s supported the likes of Wallows and Liz Cooper & The Stampede and played renowned festivals South By South West and Austin City Limits.
Calling all indie lovers, don’t miss your chance to catch The Kooks

3x GRAMMY and 7x BRIT Award-winning global pop powerhouse Dua Lipa last week announced a global run on her 2025 Radical Optimism Tour including massive arena shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland in March/April 2025.
A fifth and final show has been announced for Melbourne, confirmed for March 17, 2025 – tickets go on sale this Wednesday, September 25 at 10am, from dualipa.com.
ALL OTHER AUSTRALIAN SHOWS ARE NOW SOLD OUT.
Dua Lipa performs in Melbourne at Rod Laver Arena on Monday, March 17, Wednesday, March 19, Thursday, March 20, Saturday, March 22 and Sunday March 23 followed by Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Wednesday, March 26, Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29 before travelling to New Zealand for two shows at Auckland’s Spark Arena on Wednesday April 2 and Friday, April 4.
The tour follows Dua’s highly anticipated debut on the Pyramid Stage as the Friday night headliner at the 2024 Glastonbury Festival earlier this summer. The BBC praised her performance, saying, “Dua hit every mark with the precision of someone who had been preparing for this moment for years.” Following her electric Glastonbury set, she immediately sold out two consecutive nights at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium set for June 2025. Dua has reached a new pinnacle in her career, with fan demand at an all-time high.
The Radical Optimism Tour will kick off with previously announced shows in Asia, including stops in Singapore, Jakarta, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur and more before wrapping up on Thursday, December 5 in Seoul, Korea at Gocheok Sky Dome. The 2025 dates begin Thursday, March 20 in Melbourne, Australia at Rod Laver Arena, and include performances in Sydney, Auckland, Madrid, Hamburg, Paris, Amsterdam, London, Dublin, Toronto, Chicago, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, and many more before concluding in Seattle on Thursday, October 16 at Climate Pledge Arena. Prior to the tour kickoff in Asia, Dua will headline Austin City Limits in Austin, TX on October 5 and October 12.
The global tour supports Dua’s third studio album, Radical Optimism, which was released May 3, 2024 via Warner Records. The album went straight to No. 1 in 11 countries, including the UK where it became the biggest album debut from a UK artist in 2024 and garnered the highest week one sales from a UK female artist since 2021. In the US, the album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart and No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking Dua’s biggest sales week yet. It was named a Critic’s Pick by The New York Times, who hailed it as “an album of nonstop ear candy,” along with Variety, who declared it is “a joyous blast of pop savvy.”
Additionally, The New Yorker praised, “the instrumentation is a gleaming and impenetrable expanse, and the main attraction is Lipa,” and Vogue raved it is “a summery, self-assured slice of pop brilliance…[and] catchy as hell.”

Today, Secret Sounds is excited to reveal that Norwegian alt-pop singer, songwriter and producer AURORA is returning to Australia in February 2025, set to light up stages in Fremantle, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane with her spell-binding live performance.
The anticipated tour follows the release of AURORA’s celebrated fourth studio album, What Happened To The Heart? which dropped 7 June via Glassnote Records. The album, described by AURORA as being the “most personal and cathartic” she has ever written, features dance-heavy opus ‘Starvation’, crowd-ready anthem ‘Some Type Of Skin’ and the blissfully profound ‘Your Blood’.
A true original, AURORA has used her songs to stand up for climate change and LGBTQIA+ rights to exploring the vulnerabilities of love and embracing being yourself. Her heavenly sounds have connected with people all over the globe, with her otherworldly vocals and soaring melodies capturing hearts far and wide. She has amassed more than 20 million monthly listeners on Spotify, her songs have been streamed an incredible 3.3 billion times and she’s sold over a million albums worldwide.
Since bursting into the limelight in 2015 with her debut EP Running With The Wolves, AURORA has toured the world multiple times over, been listed by Rolling Stone as one of ten new artists you should know about, collaborated with artists like The Chemical Brothers, performed at the Academy Awards and appeared as a guest on US TV shows The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Billboard even called her “One of the most fascinating people currently making music”, which was evident in her iconic interview with triple j which went viral for her incredibly candid charm and endearing eccentricities. AURORA has also racked up over 16M views of her epic triple j Like A Version cover of Massive Attack’s ‘Teardrop’, one of the most streamed songs of the series ever.
AURORA’s latest offering, What Happened To The Heart? continues this powerful trajectory. The record is a journey from weakness to strength, from self-destruction to self-healing. A poignant and introspective musical journey that explores the loss of spiritual connection in modern society, the healing power of vulnerability and the call to ignite change through reuniting the heart with politics and personal growth.
AURORA’s anticipated Australian dates are part of her What Happened To The Earth? world tour, which will see her touch hearts across Europe, the UK and North America before bringing her ethereal tones down under. Tickets to the tour will go on sale from 11am local Friday 16 August via secretsounds.com. Fans can sign up to presale access here.

Today, Cigarettes After Sex announce their new LP, titled X’s (due July 12), alongside their upcoming world tour, which includes Australia & New Zealand dates in March 2025 and features shows at some of the globe's most iconic venues, like Madison Square Garden and London's O2 Arena.
Filled with raw, imagistic, sometimes smutty vignettes set to entrancing, slow burn pop songs, bandleader Greg Gonzalez captures every emotion a romantic arc inspires. But where previous albums have drawn from an amalgam of relationships, for the most part, X’s centralizes on just one relationship that spanned four years.
“The record feels brutal,” admits Gonzalez. “I could sit and talk about this loss to someone, but that wouldn’t scratch the surface. I have to really write about it, sing about it, have the music, and then I can start to analyze and learn from it. Or just relive it—in a good way. I don’t have that Eternal Sunshine-thing of wanting to forget.”
While continuing to observe classic pop song structures, Gonzalez has moved away from the prior sonic touchstones of the ‘50s and ‘60s, finding himself now drawn to a ‘70s/’80s slow dance. While (in typical Cigarettes style) these changes may be subtle, the overall resulting energy is akin to disco ball-refracted tears on the dance floor.
Today also marks the release of the record's first single, ‘Tejano Blue’, a nod to the music of bandleader Greg Gonzalez’s Texas childhood, resulting in the most instantly memorable version (and liveliest tempo) yet of the band’s signature sensual, timeless, love songs.
Gonzalez explains: “I grew up in El Paso & Tejano music is huge there. You could go to a lot of the bars in the city & hear artists like Selena, Los Ángeles Azules & La Mafia playing over the speakers. It was in the atmosphere around me back then, but I always rejected it & gravitated towards anything else I was attracted to really.
“Years later when I was living in New York City I finally started listening to Selena’s ‘Como La Flor’ at the same time that I was also listening to a lot of Cocteau Twins. I had the idea then to try to combine both of their sounds somehow, which felt a bit strange, but also felt like it was coming from a genuine place of rediscovering & finally connecting with the music that I heard around me in my youth.”
‘Tejano Blue’ is available now, and Cigarettes After Sex’s new LP, X’s, is out July 12th via Partisan Records / Liberator Music.
Cigarettes After Sex will bring their live show to Australia & New Zealand in March 2025. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general onsale beginning Friday, March 8 at 10am local time at cigarettesaftersex.com.
